What You Should Expect During Mangrove Kayaking Tour Langkawi?

Langkawi Mangrove Kayak Tour

The Kilim Geoforest Park is fully protected by Forestry Department of the Peninsular Malaysia. This is also a part of the bigger Geopark in Langkawi and one of the largest Ecotourism hot spots in the entire region.

If you take Langkawi kilim mangrove tour through private boat, you will discover its amazing ecology for sure. Kilim Geoforest Park serves as the habitat for different types of animals like the herons, red eagles, long-tailed macague, reptiles, squirrels and more. There are also about 40 species of saltwater fishes with highly extensive mangrove in Langkawi forests ecosystems, lovely coastal wetlands and beaches as well as two islands-the Dendang and Langgun which are considered also as spectacular and wonderful nature parks.

Individuals can also enjoy observing white-headed eagles as they are being fed while at the same time cruising a boat and exploring abundant types of uncovered wildlife in the Langkawi Kilim Geoforest Park mangrove forest.

While touring the nature park in the afternoon, individuals can also dine in and have a taste of delightful lunch of delicious and fresh seafood from the local fish farm restaurants. So if you are planning for your next Mangrove Tour Langkawi, book with us!

By booking with us, you will be able to escape from the crowded place and be in a serene surrounding which is said to be a unique part of the world. Admire the intricate streams and eagles which complete the masterpiece of nature.

Morning is the best time for Langkawi Mangrove Kayak Tour

Normally, the mangrove tour by kayak starts at 10am and ends at 2pm for the morning session, 3pm to 7pm for evening session. However, the starting time may vary due to the tide level as the tide level in Langkawi shifts every 5-6 hours. With that being said, on good days we may proceed 2 trips in 1 day but on some days we can only proceed with 1 trip per day.

Because the narrow canals of the mangrove can’t be accessed during low tide and we at LangkawiGO believe that it’s pointless to do the Mangrove Tour by Kayak if we can’t take you into the narrow canals of the mangrove because that’s where you will get the “Nat Geo Wild” vibe! So, once you’ve made your booking – do stay alert to receive a confirmation message from our guide regarding the starting time

Itinerary

Explore The Bat Cave

First stop would normally be at the bat cave but sometimes it may also be your last stop. Why? Because we at LangkawiGO will do our best to avoid congestion at the bat cave as for the cave is actually a small area so going in there while there’s a bunch of people won’t be too comfortable. But sometimes it’s to also due to the tide level, our guide knows best on how to play with the tide level to ensure your satisfaction and make your trip worthwhile.

At the bat cave, what you will normally come across are 3 different species of bats and there are hundreds of them hanging on the ceiling of the cave. Usually it takes about 5 minutes at the cave without a guide, but when there is one – it would normally take around 20 minutes or more for our guide to explain about what others normally miss out.

Fish Farm & Briefing

The fish farm which is also known as the floating restaurant. Here is where the kayaking station is situated and where you will be having your lunch after the tour. While waiting for our guide to prepare the kayak, there will be a local guide at the fish farm to show you around. Before kayaking, there are toilets for you to take care of your unfinished business before we start the tour as for the only toilet that you’ll be getting whilst kayaking is the nature’s way of doing it! (in the water).

Our kayaks are the double seater kayak, each one of you will be given a life jacket, paddle, 2 water bottles and 1 waterproof bag for 1 kayak. Further safety briefing will commence before the trip starts.

Kayaking

This is the highlight of the tour and also our main attraction! We will be kayaking into the narrow canals of the mangroves where only 1 kayak can fit thru at a time, it’s guaranteed that there will be no boats in the smaller canals but we are bound to come across them once we’re at the main river – but rest assured as for the captains on the boat would slow down for our safety if they are within range of 100m.

Our guides are driven by passion to ensure your satisfaction and will keep you in the shaded area for as long as possible. The kayaking itself would take approximately 2 hours, more or less would depend on the group – but the route itself would take less than 1 hour if it’s a non-stop paddle, just that we will take it slow in the canals and our guide will be giving commentaries along the way.

Eagle Watching

There are 2 type of birds of prey that we usually would come across, the Brahminy Kite and White Bellied Sea Eagle. Once we’re out from the second mangrove canals, that would be the eagle watching area. We do not feed the kites and eagle but the ones doing the Mangrove tour by boat would normally do the feeding and you may witness the birds swooping down to the water to catch their meal!

Going back for lunch

Once we’re done with the eagles, we would head back to the floating restaurant and have lunch there. What’s included for lunch? Chicken fried rice, orange juice (cordial), tom yam soup and fruits. Anything additional such as fish, prawns, crabs, squid, mix vegetables and etc would be at your own additional cost.

Why you shouldn’t miss this tour?

Because it’s the only tour that you could witness the mangrove forest up close and personal without causing any damage to the environment and also the best way to explore the fauna and flora of Kilim Karst Geoforest Park! This tour is for those who enjoys being captivated by the ambience that our Geoforest Park has to offer!
